Roadworthy
Roadworthy is a six-hour responsible driver and self-development programme focusing on ākonga in year 9 and 10 who attend kura, schools and educational institutions. It’s designed to promote safe responsible driving behaviour, and deter rangatahi from impaired driving and risk taking. also promotes reflection, mindfulness, and making safe choices.
How does Roadworthy work?
The goal is prepare and educate participants on responsible driving and safe road use before they sit for their licence. It covers empathy, consequential thinking. self-development, coping skills, decision making, communication, and assertiveness.
The group has a flexible format- either in three x two-hour sessions, two x three-hour sessions, one six hour ‘day’ session, or six one-hour sessions (over six weeks) and is run during school hours.
During the programme, kai is provided and participants will receive a laminated certificate upon completion. This programme is particularly helpful for rangatahi who have previous motor vehicle offences or traffic violations and those with a history of involvement in crime, alcohol and drug issues.
